Iino Pobar Multimedia Classroom in METC, unveiled UC-METC has another gracious benefactor. The Japanese principal Iino Marine Services Co., Ltd. (IMS) and its manning agency Pobar Marine Services, Inc. (PMSI) have donated a new campus’ multi-media classroom. Dubbed Iino Pobar Multimedia Classroom, it is equipped with a projector and multi-media slides on various maritime topics. The new multi-media classroom was inaugurated on January 18, 2008. The ceremony was attended by PMSI President Capt. Nobuyoshi Watanabe, Ms. Carmen Rebusi, Crewing Manager Capt. Leo Mirande with UC President Atty. Augusto W. Go, UC Vice-Chancellor for Administration Atty. Nendell Hanz Abella and UC METC administrators. The president thanked the donors and reiterated the university’s “study now, pay later” program, and informed the audience about the soon-to-rise JG Building in the campus which will be fitted with plotting, game, and audiovisual rooms, a gym, and a simulator which would also be used by the Pobar cadets. Iino Pobar is also sponsoring 10 Deck cadets and 9 engine cadets — five of whom are attending UCLM — who are all in the second year. These scholars follow the 211 Curriculum and are closely monitored by UC as well as by Iino Pobar. With these developments, AWG declared “next year will be another banner year.”
