The newly-opened International Affairs office of UC participated in the China Education Expo Exhibit held in Shanghai, China on October 22 to 26, 2008.

The International Affairs, headed by Ms. Tiffany Tan is organized to handle and develop strategic links outside the Philippines in line with UC’s quest for global academic competitiveness.

The 2008 China Education Expo, with its theme “Going Global For The Future” provided an appropriate avenue for UC to get such exposure.

UC was part of the Philippine contingent on its 5th-year participation of the said expo. The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) coordinated the trip. The other Philippine participants were the Asian Institute of Management, Father Saturnino Urious University, Liceo de Cagayan University, Recoletos Schools in the Philippines, Technological University of the Philippines and University of St. Louis- Tuguegarao.

This year’s expo had enjoyed a record-breaking participation number from more than 600 well-known institutions coming from over 40 countries and regions.

The exhibition covered six domestic cities  with many Foreign governmental high-learning bodies that included the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy; German Academic Exchange Service ( DAAD); Campus France; UnItalia; IDP Education Australia Ltd.; Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX); New China; New Zealand Embassy; Singapore Education; Federal Agency on Education; National Institute for International Education (NIIED); Embassy of Switzerland; Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO); Embassy of Malaysia; Argentina-Export Foundation and the Education Section, Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) Philippines.   The event was viewed as an opportunity for UC to expand its presence in the world’s largest recruitment market, China. With this opportunity, UC opens its gates to foreign students wishing to study here in the Philippines, and forges international exchange, cooperation and initiates friendship with a great opportunity for educational workers and the people.
