Five gold medals, four silver, three bronze, and ten other finalist finishes propelled UC Banilad to the overall championship of the inaugural Cebu Food, Beverage, and Tourism Festival on October 9–10, 2026.
The University of Cebu–Banilad’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management made its mark across competitions in culinary arts, pastry, beverage preparation, hospitality service, and tourism, demonstrating the range of skills demanded of students preparing to enter these industries.
The gold medals came in Fruits and Vegetable Carving Centerpiece, Table Setting with Floral Centerpiece, Bread Display, Creative Cake, and the Dream Team Challenge: Coming Home.
Four silver medals followed in the Fondant Wedding Cake, Culinary Innovation Challenge: SUTUKIL, Chocolate Showpiece, and Coffee Concoction: Cebu Regional Coffee competitions. UC Banilad added bronze medals in the Brewers Cup, Praline Display, and Latte Art competitions.
The college also reached the finals in ten other events, including Regional Tablea, Mocktail, Cocktail, Individual Flair, Duo Flairtending, Regional Salad, Plated Dessert, Dress the Cake, Visual Tour Guide, and Inflight Service and Catering competitions.
The results reflect a breadth of preparation that extends beyond the kitchen. From food presentation and beverage craft to tourism communication and inflight service, the competitions tested different aspects of an industry in which technical knowledge must translate into performance.
The college credited the achievement to its student participants, the classmates who cheered them on, the Society of Junior Hoteliers Banilad, the Junior Tourism Executives, faculty members, staff, and working scholars. It also acknowledged the guidance of its dean, Dr. Rene D. Osorno, and the support of Campus Director Dean Ofelia G. Maña, University President Candice Gotianuy, and University Chairman Atty. Augusto W. Go.
For UC Banilad, the overall championship is a distinction earned across multiple disciplines and a strong showing in the first edition of a festival that brings Cebu’s food, beverage, hospitality, and tourism sectors into competition.
