The University of Cebu–Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) received a Plaque of Appreciation for its contribution to the protection and sustainable management of the Butuanon River during the Central Visayas Water Quality Management Area (CVWQMA) Awards 2026 on September 24, 2026, at Bayfront Hotel Cebu.

The plaque was received by Dr. Richie Montebon, UCLM Community Awareness, Relations, and Extension Services (CARES) Director, who represented the university during the recognition ceremony.

The Environmental Management Bureau–Region VII, led by Regional Director Atty. John Edward T. Ang, recognized local government units, governing board members, and stakeholders for their contributions to water quality management and the protection of Central Visayas’ water resources.

UCLM was recognized for its collaborative governance and contribution to the advancement and protection of the Butuanon River, alongside other partners of the Butuanon River Watershed.

The CVWQMA Awards 2026 also honored six local government units and 15 governing board members for their efforts in protecting and managing the Butuanon River Watershed and Panglao Island Coastal Waters.| via Shanneah Maca
