    Contract Signing & Orientation of grantees of “Study Now, Pay Later” program for qualified UC 4th year nursing students

    The University of Cebu (UC) founder, Atty. Augusto W. Go announced Friday, August 26, 2022 that the school is offering loans to pay the last year of studying to 120 nursing students in the university under its “Study Now, Pay Later: A 4th Year Nursing Program”. 


    UC President Augusto W. Go said that after the students will graduate and pass the board examination, they will have a guaranteed job opportunity in two of their medical institutions namely UCMed and St. Vincent General Hospital and the UC Colleges of Nursing for two years as part of the contract. Atty. Go emphasized that this will help not only the parents in paying the loan but also the students who want to pursue a career internationally as they need to have at least two years experience in the medical field. 


    “During your 4th year and review, please kalimti usa nang boyfriend ug girlfriend, focus lang sa study. I want you to pass if not top the board exam so I can give you a car,” said UC president and founder Atty. Augusto W. Go.  


    The said program is in collaboration with the University of Cebu Nursing Institute (UCNI) which aims to foster a progressive clinical career roadmap for nursing practitioners. (CCE)

    The University of Cebu launched its Masters in Business Administration Financial technology laboratory in its main campus along Sanciangko St., Cebu City, on Aug. 24, 2022.
    The laboratory was established in partnership with the European Union’s Erasmus+ program to modernize and develop financial technology and digital innovation curricula in Vietnam and the Philippines.
    MBA Financial Technology students will be able to use high-tech tools in a curriculum designed by 14 top European schools for finance and technology. (Sunstar Facebook)

    University of Cebu – FRIENDS Final Report Card Day 2022

    For the University of Cebu (UC), systemic collaboration is crucial in nurturing students’ engagement and strengthening its brand for internationalization. With the UC-FRIENDS Final Report Card Day 2022, the attendees who were members of the university’s Management and Operations committee, administrators, and students, participated and took the effort of evaluating the UC-FRIENDS Final Report Card Day Evaluation Form.

    Organized by the UC FRIENDS Team, the UC-FRIENDS Final Report Card Day 2022 was held last August 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM in UC-Banilad’s Bloomberg Laboratory. The event presented and reviewed the determined policies, practices, and other actions that can support the meaningful and safe conduct of the UC-FRIENDS established and planned activities.

    Different academic and non-academic departments participated in the event. It took stock of the UC-FRIENDS rationale, activities done, and practices that UC implemented to encourage the improvement of the FRIENDS Project.

    The discussions highlighted areas of coordination and collaboration where all institution’s strategic levels can work together to nurture the spirit of innovation and collaboration among personnel and students even in a crisis or not. With the collaboration of other departments supporting the UC-FRIENDS initiative, the FRIENDS Final Report Card Day 2022 presented an opportunity for future sustainable activities and conversations on internationalization at home and intercultural competence.

    University of Cebu to hold the Erasmus+ FRIENDS Final Report Card Day 2022

    “Recognizing the Past. Honoring the Present. Shaping the Future.” is the theme for the face-to-face Final Report Card Day which will be held on August 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Bloomberg Laboratory of the University of Cebu Banilad Campus. The FRIENDS Final Report Card Day 2022 is a contribution to the ongoing quality control and evaluation through feedback provision, collection and analysis of the
    Erasmus+ FRIENDS Consortium Project. Through the event, the University of Cebu – FRIENDS Team, headed by Vice Chancellor for Business Development and Innovation, hopes to help improve the University of Cebu – FRIENDS established and planned activities. 

    Student Affairs Director Francis Jose Lean L. Abayata will give a briefer on the FRIENDS Project, the activities done so far, and the strategies for sustainability. The 5 UC students who participated in the face-to-face Student Bootcamp in June 2022 will share their insights of their month-long experience in Bulgaria; Miss Maria Isabel Guillen, Faculty of the College of Hospitality Management; Mr. Rodello Lauron, the General Education Coordinator; and Miss Edilyn Lopez, Faculty of the College of Tourism will also be sharing their personal experiences as they journeyed with the University of Cebu – FRIENDS through the IACD-MOOC and Community Development Plan. The expected attendees will be from the university’s top operations committee, administrators, and students.

    UC Talks Launched to Promote the University of Cebu’s Erasmus+ Modernised Master’s Program and Master’s Program in Financial Technology

    The University of Cebu’s Graduate School launched its UC Talks’ podcast episode on Erasmus+ TRUST Project last July 27, 2022. The episode looked into what makes the master’s program unique and discusses some of the expected and unexpected outcomes of the curriculum. In the 50-minute podcast episode, Mr. Jove Tapiador, Dr. Ilaria Reggiani, and Dr. Yolanda Sayson offered insights on Financial Technology, the TRUST Project, and the Master programs (Master in Business Administration Major in Financial Technology and Master in Business Administration – Modernised Master Program) offered by the Graduate School of the University of Cebu. Through the moderator, Mr. Francis Jose Lean Abayata, the guests examined relevant topics such as the purpose of FinTech Master’s Education, the impact Financial Technology has on a person and business/organization, the design of the UC- Erasmus+ Master degree programs, the necessity of being relevant through Financial Technology, and much more. Former President of FinTech Association of the Philippines, Mr. Jove Tapiador, discussed the basics of FinTech, relevant concerns and issues in the Philippines, and how FinTech addresses such. Erasmus+ TRUST Project Coordinator, Dr. Elaria Reggiani, talked about the focus of the TRUST Project and who the program serves. University of Cebu Vice Chancellor for Academics for General Education, Dr. Yolanda Sayson, discussed the two new graduate degree programs that the university is offering. The podcast captivated the interest of a lot of listeners to enroll in the new Financial Technology programs.
