The opening activities began with the assembly of participants and a motorcade led by MARINA Regional Office VII, participating agencies, and maritime stakeholders. A Holy Mass, accompanied by the choir of the Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corporation (PSACC), followed as a moment of reflection and thanksgiving for the maritime community.
The formal program featured the invocation, Philippine National Anthem, welcome remarks, and inspirational messages from representatives of various maritime institutions. Their messages emphasized cooperation, responsibility, and the importance of putting maritime policies and standards into effective practice.
A significant highlight of the ceremony was the Lighting of the Maritime Torch, followed by the official declaration of the opening of National Maritime Week 2026 and the MARINA Hymn. The ceremony represented the shared commitment of the maritime sector to uphold professionalism, safety, and continuous improvement.
The celebration also featured Mr. & Ms. Maritime Icons 2026, where candidates showcased their confidence and talents through the production number, individual introductions, sportswear showcase, and final walk and message. The program concluded with the announcement and awarding of the winners and a photo opportunity with the participants and organizers.
Guided by its theme, this year’s celebration highlights the importance of translating policies into concrete practices that strengthen maritime operations and empower the people who keep the industry moving. Through collaboration and dedicated service, the Philippine maritime community continues to work toward maritime excellence, safer operations, and a stronger future for the industry.
